But Asclepius, the god of Medicine, also claims its sanctity as he recognized its therapeutic use and used it a lot.
In general in Ancient Greece it was a symbol of wisdom and poetry. Even Homer, in his Odyssey, talks about its properties. In addition, it was considered to symbolize prosperity and honor. That is why they crowned the winners with the famous wreaths of laurel leaves.
