HISTORY "FROM GOLD" BEHIND THE PRODUCT
The first archaeological evidence of soap dates back to Babylon. There, in the ancient market, a kind of cosmetic-cleanser appeared that looked like a bar of soap.
From 2800 BC, and Babylon, we are transported to ancient Lesvos. It is said that then the soap got its name from the patron saint of the island, the poet Sappho. (Sappho soap.) According to the legend, the women of the island, washing their clothes in the river, noticed something strange. They were surprised to see that the animal remains, along with the fats from the animals that were burned as sacrifices in the ancient sanctuaries near the river, washed away the ashes and formed a yellow stream that ended in the river. On days when the yellow stream flowed into the river, the clothes were washed better.
In southern Italy, and in particular in Naples in the 6th century, soap making began to be established as a luxury item. And in fact, not only as a kind of luxury but also as part of the royal estate! In France and Marseille, soaps are known for their excellent foaming properties. But their pure aroma and wonderfully clean color make them unique! Unique and the only ones that can compete in quality and passion in their production are those of our Crete! In fact, at the time of the destruction of oil production in France, Marseille soaps are deprived of the raw material of their production and it is Crete that offers its oil as an exportable product to normalize the situation.
